Heidiya, originally from Tanzania, has made a life for herself in Kashgar with her husband, Dilixty, who hails from the same region in Xinjiang. Together, they have opened a café named “Dili and Diya” in the ancient city of Kashgar.
During this year’s National Day holiday, their café was bustling with customers from around the globe. One family from Canada learned about Heidiya through social media and made a special trip to visit her café during their travels to Xinjiang.
The journey of this international couple started in 2022 when they returned to Kashgar with their son. Heidiya expressed that their café is not just a product of their love but also the beginning of their shared dreams. The coffee beans served in their café are sourced from her native Tanzania, transported via waterways to Europe, then shipped on the China-Europe railway to Ürümqi, and finally delivered to Kashgar in about two weeks at a very affordable cost. The fresh milk they use comes from local producers in Kashgar.
Heidiya believes that their love story transcends borders, just like their coffee, which represents a blend of their two cultures. She feels grateful for her life in China, as it has empowered her to become an educated, confident, and strong individual.
